I decided to write a blog after I had read many beauty and lifestyle blogs resulting in one day, I wanted to create my own!  After a fair bit of anticipation on how to start and what to write, "Amelia Joy" was born. February Casual

Can you believe February is over?! I feel like it's only the start of the year (clearly not)!
This Casual look I put together was to show you guys my sense of style depending on the day, weather, season and mood. I never stick to a certain look, however I do try and follow trends but most of my style is based on how I feel on that day!
It was on one of those days where Black High Waisted Jeans, Crop Top, Leather Jacket and Nude Heels were needed: A causal yet edgy look for a grey crisp day.

The High Waisted jeans from Miss Selfridge (get here) are my go to jeans. They are so comfortable and I can wear them with practically anything (they also make your bum look great!).
I paired this look with a cute crop top from Hollister and the most comfortable nude heels ever from Marks and Spencer (get here). I can wear these heels all day! They are amazing!

A good pair of Black Jeans I believe are a life saver.

They go with virtually anything, it’s a slimming colour and they never go out of style!

Hope you guys enjoy this short, sweet blog and  get to know my style a little bit better!
Let me know what you think!?

xoxo

Valentine's Day: Cupcakes

Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us. We all know that V-day can be a lot of pressure on couples but it doesn’t have to be. You can make Valentine’s Day special without spending too much on your gifts or going to dinner, you just have to bring the creative side out in you! (We all know it’s there).

Why put pressure on yourselves, your Valentines will always be special whatever you decide to do –I would hope so anyways!  A romantic walk, going for pancakes or buying Marks and Spencer’s Valentines Meal offer – to which I will be doing! We'll treat ourselves to delicious pancakes in Exeter at ‘Gourmandine Crepes CafĂ©’ (it's amazing). My boyfriend and I keep Valentine’s pretty simple, just being in each other's company is enough.

To make your Valentine’s Day special why not create something at home? Bake, write or create something that means a lot to you and give it to that special someone.

I decided to do just that: ‘Valentine’s Cupcakes’, Buttermilk chocolate cupcakes with creamy butter frosting and love!..Of course. I originally decided to make Red Velvet Cupcakes but they didn’t go to plan! However I stuck to a recipe for Red Velvet and made it my own.

The recipe I used (cupcakes here) is from Pinterest (Follow me). I love Pinterest; I am practically on it every day looking for new ideas and creations (I mean who isn’t?!). It is brilliant for helping you find great ideas for Valentines.

I believe if you make something and put your heart into it, it would top any shop bought chocolates! Have a go this Valentines, be creative it doesn’t matter if it goes wrong, it’s the thought that counts and anyways if he/she doesn’t like what you’ve done, then they’re not the one!! (Wink emoji would be here if I had one!).

I hope you all have a lovely Valentine’s Day. Let me know what you decided to create!

XOXO

Winter Go To Dresses

I personally always have a couple of go to outfits each month depending on the weather of course and what I feel amazing in.. and I am sure you all have your go to outfits as well.
My Winter go to dresses are simple, fun, can be worn casually and you can also dress them up.

I am absolutely loving Swing and Pinafore dresses at the moment and this is why my go to dresses are just that.

The grey high neck Swing Dress from Pretty Little Thing (get here) I am wearing is so comfortable, flirty and fun. It fits in all the right places and is a dress you can just slip on if you're in a hurry or if you wanted a comfortable day but still to look nice . This is the perfect dress for that.
I have paired it with my Black Leather Jacket from Miss Selfridge (get here) and Knee High Boots from River Island which I adore.

(The Knee High Boots I have on were the best buy I made with boots last year. I have always wanted to get thigh high boots but they never suited me until I stumbled across these, and had to have them. They are so comfortable and go practically with every outfit. I would say these are my go to boots for last year and going on this year.)

Onto my second outfit: the Topshop Tall Moto Cord Pinafore Dress in Burgundy (get the look here). This dress is great for a different option to Denim. What I also love about this dress is that it has a 70's edge and comes with cute patch pockets.

This dress is great for everyday wear, whether you are heading out for some retail therapy or having a girls day out somewhere. It is cute, simple and you can wear what you want underneath it.
I paired this dress with a crop black top but I have also worn it with a roll neck top or jumper to give it that casual/comfortable vibe, and of course I have my boots on to complete this outfit. This dress would also look great with heels, flats or converses.

Last but not least, as it's still Winter and freezing, I opted to pair this outfit with my Miss Selfridge Parka (get here), it is so warm and cosy and I believe finishes the look off.

I hope you guys enjoy my blog. Let me know what your Winter go to dresses have been.

XOXO

Delicious Chocolate Brownies

For those who have a chocolate sweet tooth they can't control...'like myself', these Brownies are ones not to miss!

I absolutely LOVE baking in my spare time, I find it very therapeutic and love seeing the reactions on my friends and family's faces when they try my food.
So I thought I would kick start my Baking Blog with my ultimate favourite thing to bake..BROWNIES.

This recipe from the book 'Montezuma's Chocolate Cookbook' is amazing. This book has so many great recipes for everyone to make and they are so easy to follow as wellGet the book here.!

Lets get Baking.

Ingredient's

  • 135g unsalted butter
  • 265g dark chocolate ( you don't need expensive chocolate)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 265g granulated sugar
  • 80g light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 160g plain flour
  • 225g milk chocolate, chopped
Method

1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees/ gas mark 4. Then grease and line your Brownie tin with either baking parchment or butter.

2. Melt the dark chocolate and butter in a bowl over simmering hot water. Remove from the pan once the chocolate is fully melted.

3.Beat the eggs and both types of sugars together until it becomes thick and creamy.

4.Once you have mixed in your eggs and sugar, add your melted chocolate mixture followed by vanilla extract. Then add flour and milk chocolate. (I then added white chocolate chips here to make it even more chocolaty).

5.Pour the mixture in your brownie tin and bake for 20-30 minutes until set in the middle.

6.Once your brownies have cooled cut up into squares or however you like and serve with a nice fresh hot cup of tea or a cool glass of wine.

Voila you have made gorgeous Brownies :)

Hope you guys enjoy this blog, I will have many more baking ones to come. Let me know if you make these and what you guys think.

Dare to go Ted?....Why not! I am probably being slightly biased due to the fact I do adore Ted baker however everyone needs a bit of Ted in their life!.. Whether it is for a Birthday, Wedding, Graduation or even just wanting a new outfit for yourself. Now we all know that we can't resist a bit of retail therapy...like everyday!! And who is going to resist a beautiful piece of clothing...I certainly won't be resisting as long as my bank account allows it! I love this outfit, it's simple, cute, can be worn as everyday wear and you could also dress it up with some heels. The skirt I am wearing is the 'Pink Pheaobie Double Bow Mini Skirt'. It also has the added detail of Rose Gold with in the bows. The roll neck top is from Hollister. You could also dress the skirt up with a crop top or cami if you wanted to.

This outfit is simple with a punch of colour from the beautiful fitted midi skirt and statement wrap coat with nude heels. This statement piece is great for a Day to Night look whether you are going for dinner or drinks with the girls.
